Do I dare say, Welcome Summer?! Schools out, Suns out, shades out. It's time to sit back, relax and worship the sun.  While the past few days have been New York's first taste of summer, the bf and I  spent the past week in Miami skipping the transitional weather and the freezing northern waters.  We stayed at the Angler's in downtown south beach and the Standard Miami, somewhere really close to downtown south beach.  Ill be posting my review of both sometime soon.

Everyone keeps asking what we did but that's just the thing, we did absolutely nothing and loved every second of it.  Now we're back home in the mellowest of moods ready to chill out for the summer.  I've never been so ready.

EVERYTHING will be OKAY

Artist unknown, Photo by me

As a student, every time the semester comes to an end a general air of anxiety fills the school.  People become on edge, emotional, and irritated.  It's easy to see why this happens, especially at FIT.  Students are faced with an average of 7 major projects/exams with deadlines that are all in the same week.  It is not the most conducive schedule for working or learning but either way things need to get done.  Sometimes anxiety can take over and make it very hard to get it together and deliver during that last home stretch.  I think it's important to keep in mind that EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY. yes it will, just take a deep breathe.

On earth day my neice and I saw this lovely thing hanging.   A wonderful reminder in a city filled with people consumed by deadlines.  Whoever made this is undoubtedly awesome.

Day by day

I for one cannot remember anything. A conversation with me might go like this:
You: Hey Viv, you should come to my party later tonight
Me: Oh okay that sounds fun!
(three minutes pass)
You: So I'll see you later tonight right?
Me: why? what's tonight?

Yup that's my life.  Unbeknownst to many of my friends, family,  and professors I really do try to rememeber these things as best I can. To combat what I like to call "the goldfish syndrome" (memory being like that of a goldfish which I heard they say is very little like 30 seonds or something) anyway, I have two schedule planners/notebooks.

Number one is a Monthly Planner which allows me to see my upcoming month at a glance. Helpful since time moves so fast, days and weeks go by, and before you know it the month is over (and youv'e yet to go to the gym once like you told yourself you would "this month") maybe that's just me.

The little pink planner (2.5"x4.25") was my solution to my slightly bigger red planner (5.5"x3.5) taking up too much space in my bag/purse.  There I jot down daily assignments and reminders for things I have to do. Unfortunatly the red planner I am finding was actually way more functional.  The tiny pink one doesn't have any space for jotting down little notes or making lists.  The red one has the week on one side and whole free page on the other for random things. I miss my red planner.

    baby it's cold outside

Mattel Barbie Calendar, Illustrations by Robert Best

When I have nothing to talk about I talk about the weather. Be warned.  Apparently some people are annoyed by this, sorry if you're one of those.   Anyway so it snowed twice this week. Awesome.  I had to pull out my winter coat again.  I am not happy.  On to happier things.  This is the January Illustration of my barbie calendar.  If feels like January all over again.

I love the detail of her blowing out her breath. This little detail is such a characteristic of winter and I love that the illustrator chose to include it.
